my #1 tip for fear of the blank page

If you fear the blank page, here’s my #1 tip. 

It’s simple - but it’s not easy. 

And it only works if you actually do it. ;)

Here it is…

Write down your ideas. 

All of them. 

Establish ONE place where you put these ideas. 

Carry a tiny notebook. 

OR create a note on your phone where you dump writing ideas. (One note for each project you’re working on or thinking about.)

OR use Otter or another voice-to-text app to record voice notes. 

Notice when you most often have ideas and set up your system accordingly. (Is it in the shower? While driving? It’s usually somewhere pretty inconvenient. Make the system work for that inconvenience, anyway.)

When you write down your ideas, you remember more of your ideas and your brain starts thinking, huh, they’re taking these ideas seriously, LET’S GENERATE MORE IDEAS. 

When you have a file of ideas that you can open and poke through when you sit down to write, it makes writing A HUNDRED TIMES EASIER.
