🥳 it’s my birthday
Today is my birthday! So this will be quick…
I’m celebrating with gluten-free cupcakes and tacos from my favorite restaurant.
I just want to say I’m so grateful for you and for this Writing Brave community.
I’ll tell you a quick story:
Back in the summer of 2013, I was working for an education nonprofit and commuting every day to the city. It was a two-hour commute EACH WAY. (People in Long Island would shrug and say, Yup, that’s normal. WHAT!?)
I was also beginning to develop symptoms of what would eventually be diagnosed as chronic fatigue. (Later that summer, I would have to go on disability from my job because my fatigue was so severe.)
On the train, I was reading Martha Beck’s Finding Your Way in a Wild New World. And I would spend ten minutes of each commute home daydreaming a future in which I could work from home… helping people who were writing books.
YOU are the manifestation of that dream. That soul-deep longing. That vision.
Thank you.
P.S. If you want to fuel these weekly emails with coffee, you could always send me a Starbucks electronic gift card. ;) Use the email address brooke@wearewritingbrave.com and you will have my forever thanks for lots of iced decaf oat milk lattes.
