✨Let your book surprise you
When you begin a book (or any writing project), you have an idea of what it's going to be about.
Let me tell you one thing I know for sure:
At the outset, you have no idea what your book is really about.
So stop pretending that you do.
Stop clinging to your narrow perception of what it is.
You can only see it dimly at the start.
And the only way it will grow clearer is if you keep writing forward - and you keep letting the book surprise you.
It will surprise you in big ways and small ways.
It will frustrate you in big ways and small ways, too.
Keep going.
The surprise and the frustration are where the magic lies.
Trust me.
Just keep going.
