your challenge should you choose to accept it {redux}

This week I want you to tell someone that you’re writing a book.

It could be anyone.

A friend, a family member, the barista at your local coffee place, a colleague, your mail carrier.

Doesn’t matter who it is.

Tell someone you’re writing a book, and give them a two-sentence description of what it’s about.

Notice how you describe what you’re writing to someone else.

What are you leaving out? Does how you describe it, change your understanding of your book?

I did this exercise with my masterminders a few weeks ago and it blew everyone’s mind. (If you want to do it with a friend, have them ask you one follow-up question.)

Saying it out loud changes things - in a good way.

Share with someone you KNOW will be supportive, or share with a total stranger.

DON’T share with someone who’s going to ask you reductive questions like, ‘Do you really have time to be doing that?’ or someone who will try to give you ‘constructive’ criticism on your idea.

Nope.

Share with someone who’s going to amplify your excitement.

Happy writing.
